If life had a rear-view mirror, what would you use it for and why?
If I had a rear-view mirror in my life, it would probably be used to see what is coming behind me so I don't make a mistake or be in the middle of a problem that is coming. The thing is though, I don't want to avoid mistakes and problems because then I'll never learn from them. I can honestly say that whenever I recognize a situation that I have made a bad decision in the past, I know how to get through it without making the same mistake. Also, if I avoid my problems, I will never grow up into a strong person.
James 1:2 says "Count it all joy my brothers when you face trials of many kinds." -NIV. I take this verse very seriously because it is so inspiring. Who thinks that it is good when stuck in a dilemma? When you keep this verse in mind, it will really help you get through your troubles because you come out stronger. God will never put you in a situation that you cannot get out of. He knows you will get through your problems and come out stronger in Him. I know that when my grandma died, I was so distraught, but my faith was strengthened in that time, and I really began to mature in Christ.
Having a rear-view mirror would also cause me to look back at the past, and I would want to figure out what would have happened if I did things differently. I would not want to dwell in my past, because there are things I am ashamed of, but God has forgiven me and forgotten my wrongdoings.
There is honestly no reason for me to have a rear-view mirror in my life. My life here on earth is of no significance. I am just trying to live a life that would help further the kingdom of God so that once I enter, I will hear God say "Well done good and faithful servant." It will be the most amazingly beautiful words I will ever hear in my entire life. As long as I have my beautiful Savior with me, I don't need a ridiculous rear-view mirror.
Great, Alie! I love this! Such great wisdom and you truly have the right perspective...very inspiring to read! :)
